Madonna, Madonna, Madonna! WOW she was great last Thursday night. I enjoyed the event with Dawn and Tonia and about 55 thousand other people. Yeah....55K! It was a madhouse. The tickets said 7:30pm however Madge doesnt have or need an opening act and then didnt come on stage until 9:20ish. Then performed for two solid hours. Opening was Candy Shop (most songs were from that CD) and ended with Give it to me. My favorite song was Like a Prayer which is surprising to me because I am not a fan of that song, however she mashed it up with a techno song called Feels like Home, and on the TV screens were quotes and verses from the bible, book of kabbalah, buddah, etc. It was killer! I also liked Express Yourself because this is the song that Britney Spears filmed a spot for. She was wearing a black hoodie with glasses and got into an elevator, then got stuck in the elevator. So the whole song she is moving around, pushing buttons, laying down, etc. Then at the end of the song Madonna sings, "I'm not your bitch." several times in a row, then the doors of the elevator open and Britney sans glasses, looking cute walks out and says, "Its Britney Bitch!" from Gimme More. That was cool. Madonna also had a little intermission while she changed costumes where a video of sorts was playing, showing things like global warming, genocide, bad and evil leaders at the beginning. Toward the end of the song she started showing people who do good and make a difference in the world such as Oprah, Bill Gates, Bono. The last shot was of Obama and the crowd went wild. Inspiring.
The drive over and back did suck because it was so stinking long. I did get across the boarder without having to go into immigration...yippie! Then once inside CA, we hit traffic and it took us about 2 hrs to go about 20 miles. The hotel though was perfect and right across the street from BC Place. We literally walked 100 yards. Oh yeah, the BC bud was all over the concert. I might have got second hand high.
It was a lot of fun and several of the songs/videos are on you tube if you care to check them out.
